Terms of Service
Introduction
Welcome to Confideins, a password management application. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Scope of the Service
Confideins helps you organize and store your passwords securely. Some features are available without an account (offline mode), while others (e.g., cloud backup) require sign-in.
Eligibility & Acceptance
You represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that you will comply with all applicable laws. If you use the app on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization, and “you” will refer to that organization.
Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, we will provide notice (e.g., in-app notice or email). Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
License & Permitted Use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or otherwise tamper with the app, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by law.
Account, Security & Backups
- Account Creation: Creating an account via Google sign-in enables features like cloud backup. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials secure.
- Encryption Password: You may set a custom encryption password to protect your stored data. This password is known only to you and is not stored or recoverable by Confideins. If you lose it, we cannot decrypt or recover your data.
- Local Storage: If backup is not enabled, your data remains encrypted and stored locally on your device.
- Cloud Backup (Google Drive): If enabled, an additional encryption layer is applied before any data is sent to Google Drive.
Third-Party Services (Google & Google Drive)
- When you sign in with Google, you consent to sharing basic profile information (e.g., name, email, age) and to allow the app to manage files only within the Confideins application folder in your Google Drive. The app cannot create, view, edit, delete, or access files outside this folder.
- You acknowledge that Google and Google Drive are third-party services governed by their own terms and policies. Confideins does not control and is not responsible for Google’s actions, outages, restrictions, account penalties/suspensions/bans, or data removals performed by Google. If your Google account is restricted or terminated, Confideins cannot restore access to your Drive or recover your data.
User Responsibilities
- You are solely responsible for: (i) safeguarding your device(s), account credentials, and encryption password; (ii) maintaining up-to-date backups (if desired); and (iii) verifying actions you initiate in the app (e.g., deletions, edits, exports).
- You must not use the app in any unlawful or harmful manner, including attempting to access others’ data, interfering with the app’s normal operation, introducing malware, or reverse-engineering the app.
- You understand and agree that actions you take within the app may have consequences (e.g., deleting entries or backups). Confideins is not responsible for consequences arising from your actions or decisions.
Actions in Google Account or Google Drive
You acknowledge and agree that Confideins is not responsible for any issues, data loss, or limitations resulting from actions you take within your Google account or Google Drive settings, including but not limited to:
- Revoking the app’s access or permissions from Google Account security settings;
- Deleting, renaming, moving, or modifying the Confideins folder or files in Google Drive;
- Changing account credentials, enabling or modifying 2FA, or any action that restricts access to your Google account;
- Using Google features that clear, archive, or version application data;
- Linking third-party tools that alter Drive permissions or content;
- Closing your Google account or any suspension, penalty, restriction, or deletion applied by Google.
In all such cases, the responsibility for the consequences lies solely with you. Confideins cannot restore access or recover data lost due to these actions.
Local Device Actions & Direct User Acts
Confideins is not liable for any data loss, corruption, or unavailability caused by actions you perform on your device, including but not limited to:
- Uninstalling the app; clearing app data or cache; disabling storage permissions;
- Manually deleting, renaming, or moving local files or folders used by the app;
- Factory resets, OS updates/downgrades, rooting/jailbreaking, bootloader unlocks, or custom ROMs;
- Storage failures, disk encryption changes, file system corruption, or insufficient storage;
- Installing software that interferes with the app (e.g., task killers, cleaners, antivirus, backup/sync tools).
General Clause: To the fullest extent permitted by law, Confideins disclaims responsibility for any and all consequences arising from any direct action taken by you that affects your data or the app’s operation, whether performed in the app, on your device, or in any linked third-party account or service.
External Factors & Third-Party Changes
- The app is not responsible for data loss resulting from external factors, including Google Drive service failures, API limitations, outages, rate limits, or technical restrictions imposed by third-party providers.
- The app shall not be liable for any interruption or malfunction caused by changes to Google services, APIs, policies, scopes/permissions, authentication flows, storage quotas, or any external dependency beyond our control.
Devices, Malware & Third-Party Access
You are solely responsible for the security of your devices and accounts. Confideins is not liable for unauthorized access, credential compromise, malware, spyware, phishing, social engineering, or any third-party actions taken using your device(s) or credentials.
No Guarantee of Recovery
The app does not guarantee the recovery or restoration of data deleted, corrupted, or made inaccessible for any reason, including user actions, device failures, software conflicts, or third-party service issues. Once deleted or rendered inaccessible, data may be permanently unrecoverable.
Service Availability; Beta Features
The app is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Beta or experimental features may be offered without any commitment to performance or continued availability.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Confideins disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Confideins and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits or revenues; loss of data; or any damages or losses arising from or related to your use of—or inability to use—the app, whether based in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app or these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) for using the app during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Confideins and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use or misuse of the app; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any law or third-party right; or (d) any content or data processed through your account or devices.
Export & Compliance
You agree to comply with all applicable export control and sanctions laws. You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a resident of any country or entity subject to comprehensive sanctions.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app shall be resolved in courts with jurisdiction over your residence, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Nothing in this clause limits any mandatory consumer protection rights available to you.
Severability; Waiver; Assignment; Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it will be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our rights. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them without restriction. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Confideins regarding the app and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
